Three central things would basically be: 1) being able to be with someone that I care about and love; 2) having a stable financial situation; and, 3) doing something that I like to do.
Jaune is a high school student in California. He was interviewed by a fellow student, Jackie, as part of a #schoolpartnership #studentvoice project with REENVISIONED, in which students interview each other and adults in their lives, and reflect together on school and what makes a good life.
Tell me about yourself how would your friends describe you how would your family describe you?
Well, I'm basically alone at school - I listen to music a lot. Other than that, I'm just a nice guy.
Now imagine you are all grown up let's say you're thirty what are three central things you would you think would make it a good life?
Three central things would basically be: 1) being able to be with someone that I care about and love; 2) having a stable financial situation; and, 3) doing something that I like to do.
How do you imagine your parents answer about what would make a good life is similar or different to yours?
For the most part I think they'd be the same.
What would you like school to do, ideally, to help get that good life?
Basically, school should teach the skills that are required to, not necessary to really do well in life, but to always have a bright opinion on life.
Do you think this school will do that for you? Why or why not?
I think it has, because already in English class it has made me think about myself in different ways that made me reflect.
Will your school play that role for almost all students in the school? if not why
I don't think so. Only because some people don't take the same opportunities as other students do.
Why do you think we have schools as a society?
Because whoever developed a system like government and school system think it is the right thing to do.
